Avon and Somerset Police have seen an increase in burglaries from garden sheds and garages over the last couple of months, to minimise the chance of theft they have suggested the following ideas that residents might find useful to protect their outbuildings.
Consider using “dusk to dawn” security lights, do not leave ladders or tools outside at night, photograph valuable tools and unusual garden ornaments, padlocks should be made of hardened steel, shed windows should have window locks, and if possible chain high value tools and cycles together with a high security chain and anchor the chain or cable to the the floor with a high standard padlock.
