Avon and Somerset police have issued the following warning with regard to the sudden increase in the removal of Catalytic converters from cars. The increase is due to the value of precious metals attracting very high prices at the moment, ( Rhodium, Platinum and Palladium ) which are in the converters. The most vehicles at risk are SUV’s, vans and vehicles with height access, and also hybrid’s where the converter use on the vehicle is considerably less, therefore the value goes up. The police advise if you cannot park in a garage, try and park close to a wall or a fence with the bonnet facing the wall or fence.
