The council have been advised that after government consultation, which has taken place over the last few months, the decision has been made that Somerset as from 2023 will be a single unitary authority, therefore the five Somerset district councils will cease to be in operation from 2023. Â The council are not aware that the district councils will appeal against this ruling.
