Avon and Somerset Police have issued a warning that a there is an e-mail scam going around claiming it is from “ofgem” asking for you to apply for the energy bill rebate scheme, the idea of this scam is that you are asked to claim for this grant by giving details of your bank by going to “Claim Bill Rebate Now”. You do not need to claim for this grant if you are paying council tax in bands A,B,C, and D, it will automatically paid into your bank, if you have any query with regard to this rebate you should contact Somerset West and Taunton District Council direct, and totally ignore and delete anything that is supposed to come from “ofgem”.
