Avon and Somerset have issued the following distraction burglary alert which they are aware of at the present time; be aware of individuals knocking at your door with a food parcel if it is refused or accepted, the individual will ask for a written thank you or a note of refusal, the individual will then follow you into your dwelling and stealing anything of value especially bags before fleeing.
Avon and Somerset Police stress if you are opening the door to strangers always ask for identity. If no identity is forthcoming close the door immediately.
