Avon and Somerset Police are concerned with regard to the increase in theft of catalytic converters in rural areas. The police advise that you should be careful if you are parking, you should park on the level and not with one side of the car on the pavement or on a grass verge as this makes it easier for thieves to get under the car. An average replacement bill for a catalytic converter is £1300. If any resident has a concern that their car has been targeted they should contact the police.
